Genndy Tartakovsky’s All-Star Cosmic Quest has been confirmed to release in 2029

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Illumination have officially set July 20, 2029, as the theatrical release date for Cosmic Quest, an immensely ambitious retro-futuristic sci-fi comedy written and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Initially announced for 2028, the studio has graciously extended Tartakovsky an additional 12 months to fully realize his vision of chrome rockets, tail-fin spaceships, and atomic-age chaos, inspired by the 1950s. Sources close to the production reveal that this extra time will enable the team to refine the film’s signature blend of breathtaking minimalist action sequences and irreverent humor.

The star-studded voice cast remains unchanged, including Chris Pratt, Zendaya, Maya Rudolph, John Krasinski, Awkwafina, Will Smith, and Pete Davidson. Tartakovsky himself will lend his voice to the ship’s misanthropic AI, JAR-VEX.

One insider describes Genndy’s pitch as a love letter to classic space serials combined with the energy of a Looney Tunes short on cosmic steroids. The footage they’ve been screening internally is nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the film’s incredible potential.

Cosmic Quest has now positioned itself as Warner Bros.’ major animated event for summer 2029, competing against currently unscheduled films in what promises to be a packed year for family animation.

Mark your calendars for July 20, 2029, as the misfits of the S.S. Whatever embark on a mission to save the universe, whether it’s ready or not.
